Applications:
1. Body in White ( BIW ):
What is Body in white ( BIW ) ?
“Body in White” (often abbreviated as BIW) refers to the stage in automotive manufacturing where the car’s frame, structure, and sheet metal body panels are assembled and welded together, but before the installation of key components like the engine, interior, suspension, and electrical systems.
2. Assembly Lines:
A) What is Engine Assembly Line?
An Engine Assembly Line is a specialized production line used in manufacturing industries to assemble engines, typically for vehicles such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other machinery. The assembly line allows for mass production of engines with high efficiency, consistency, and precision.
B) What is Battery Assembly Line?
A Battery Assembly Line refers to a specialized production line in manufacturing facilities where electric vehicle (EV) battery packs are assembled. This process involves the assembly of individual battery cells into modules and packs, integrating them with safety, thermal management, and electrical systems, and performing rigorous testing before they are ready for use in EVs or other applications.
3. Special Purpose Machine ( SPM ):
What is Special Purpose Machine (SPM)?
SPM stands for Special Purpose Machine. It refers to custom-designed equipment or machinery developed to carry out specific tasks in a production or manufacturing process. Unlike general-purpose machines, which can handle a wide range of tasks, SPMs are built for a particular function or a set of tasks that are unique to the needs of a particular production line or process.
4. Material Handling System:
What is Material Handling System?
It uses a wide range of manual, semi-automated, and automated equipment and includes consideration of the protection, storage, and control of materials throughout their manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, consumption, and disposal.
Functions of Material handling
- Proper equipment should be selected.
- Speedup the material movement.
- Avoid back-tracking and duplicate handling.
- Selecting shortest routes.
- Economize handling.
- Avoid damage to material in transit.
- Utilize gravity for assisting material.
- Repair and maintenance.
5. Pick and Place System:
What is Pick and Place System?
They use advanced vision systems to identify, grasp and move objects from one place to another. With a variety of design options available, pick and place robots can be configured with various end-of-arm tooling options for use in different applications, such as assembly, packaging or bin picking.
